Careers in Bulgaria
A career in an EU member state inside Schengen and the euro area — a faster, more accessible starting point than most of Western Europe.
Why Bulgaria?
Bulgarian companies face a serious skilled-labour shortage; demand for foreign professionals is growing in engineering, software, healthcare and finance. For professionals targeting an EU career, Bulgaria is one of the union's most accessible entry gates.
EU Blue Card
For university graduates, the EU Blue Card is available in Bulgaria at a salary threshold markedly lower than in most EU countries (around €23,500 per year — verify the current threshold with official sources). The card provides family reunification and intra-EU mobility rights.
Diploma Recognition (NACID)
Recognition of foreign diplomas runs through NACID; regulated professions such as doctors and dentists have an additional procedure with the relevant professional body (e.g. the BDA). Documents must be apostilled and come with certified translations.
The Job Market
Sofia is the software and finance hub; Plovdiv manufacturing; Varna and Burgas tourism, logistics and a fast-growing service sector. For remote workers, low living costs plus EU infrastructure is a strong combination.
